Poem of the Week: “the last redwood”

October 7, 2011 at 8:00 am Leave a comment

And now, for a poem…

the last redwood

by Linda Adams

it grew strong
in the heart of the forest
and thrived
nearly a thousand years

the indians left it alone

then
white man discovered it
and chopped it down

so he could make
toothpicks
